Transportation Information

Welcome to the Homepage of the North Penn School District Transportation Department!

Our mission is to provide safe and efficient transportation for all students of the North Penn School District.

Every day, the North Penn School District:

  • transports nearly 13,000 students
  • from within the 42 square miles of the District
  • operates with 68 district owned buses, 58 contracted buses, and 17 district owned van routes.
  • to 18 NPSD Schools & 35 other schools within a 10-mile radius of district boundaries
  • The district has 38 propane powered buses along with 58 propane buses through a contractor, which is approximately 76% of buses picking up students on propane powered buses.

Every year, North Penn School District vehicles travel 2.1 million miles, equivalent to driving around the Earth approximately 74 times!
Or, making nearly 4 round trips to the moon!

To do this, we employ 153 school bus drivers, school vehicle drivers and aides. Our bus drivers must take a minimum of 20 hours of classroom and on-the-road training, pass written and road tests administered by Pennsylvania Department of Transportation 3rd Party Testers, all before they can drive a North Penn school bus. In addition, every four years, each school bus driver must complete an additional 10 hours of classroom and behind-the-wheel training, and pass another written and on-the-road examination in order to be recertified as a school bus driver.

In addition to our bus drivers, we employ 5 mechanics that ensure that all our vehicles are maintained in top condition for the job of transporting your children safely to and from school.

We are all working together to meet the needs of all North Penn children.
